Should You Participate?
The short answer is YES!
Whether you're a seasoned artist or just getting started with dioramas, miniatures, painting or sculpture, this challenge is for everyone who wants to create something meaningful — and have fun while doing it!
And remember!
Crafting For Hope isn’t just about winning. It’s about expressing something meaningful, connecting with a community, and helping raise funds for a good cause.
Inspiration and tips
Check out last year's gallery for some inspiration, and take a look at what the judges appreciated last year:
-
Entries that told a clear or intriguing story consistently scored high. You don’t need text — let the scene, lighting, posing and composition tell the tale.
-
Many favorites created a distinct feeling: cozy, ominous, magical, playful, or eerie. Lighting, color palette, and textures help here!
-
Small objects, textures, weathering, and thoughtful color choices often made a big difference — especially when they helped immerse the viewer in the world.
-
Avoid blurry shots, dark shadows hiding key elements, or busy backgrounds. A clean photo with a strong composition makes your work shine!
-
The highest-rated entries often had something unique — whether it was humor, nostalgia, emotional weight, or just pure weirdness.
